ESCAPing into a world outside of my own, but inside my own NEIGHBORHOOD
I decided to take inspiration from one of my favorite movies for a series titled THE SUBURBS OF SCISSORHANDS. I'm putting on my STYLIST hat and creating all new characters that live inside TIM BURTON'S clouds and PASTEL dreams of a neighborhood from EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.
You will meet all the LADIES of the NEIGHBORHOOD, represented by the color combinations that showed up in the movie. They all have a story to share and a style to showcase!

There is the idea… a re-watch of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, and then the creative process of pulling together a moodboard.

With the moodboard created, its time to start pulling everything that has “all the feels” of the scissorhands storyline. One by one each neighborhood lady comes to life! With a little hair and makeup… it’s time to head out onto the sidewalks and make magic!
NEW-TO-TOWN
Her car crosses over the state line… a new adventure awaits. Leaving behind the big city, she has chosen a simpler, sunny life - in the suburbs. Front yards, sidewalks and more square-footage is calling her name. She’s here to make a new start and hopefully a bunch of new friends. With bright optimism and big curls she moves in and takes her place.
THE QUEEN BEE
She’s head-to-toe PINK, the matriarch and the QUEEN 🐝. She runs this neighborhood and represents MAXIMALISM at its best! There is always a ruffle, a strand of pearls, a BEADED BAG... and a word of wisdom whenever she’s around.
THE ART TEACHER
Bold GREEN and YELLOW worn by the eccentric ART TEACHER at the local school - and the MATRIARCH’s best friend. She beats to her own drum and won’t back down for anyone (truth be told... the Queen 🐝 is a little intimidated by her confidence) but she is loyal and the RIDE OR DIE woman you want on your side.
THE INGÉNUE
PINK and RED represents the neighborhood ingénue both a little sweet and sassy. She calls the MATRIARCH nana, and definitely has it all... a life of cotton candy and sprinkles. Maybe she wants something outside of this BUBBLE WRAPPED world - but in the mean time she’ll FLIRT and FLOUNCE her way through life.
THE FLIRT
Watch out here SHE COMES!! She’s the neighborhood FLIRT, always EXTRA and never shy. She makes life at home look GLAMOROUS glam and you can bet she’s always rocking a RED LIP!
THE PEACHY PUSHOVER
PUFF SLEEVES to go with the CREAM PUFFS she’s known for at every house party. She all PEACHY SWEET, and a bit of a pushover... and you can bet she’s got CHANEL and CHIFFON and all things nice!
THE REALTOR
Well.. here she is the LAST and FINAL NEIGHBOR, she might be last but definitely not LEAST. She’s QUEEN BEE.2, the one who will take her place. She’s our local REALTOR and every bench in town has her face on it. WATCH OUT she’s a mover-n-shaker and always rocking a POWER SHOULDER!
